Christa Porter, assistant professor of Higher, Adult and Lifelong Education (HALE), was recently honored with the 2015 Research and Scholarship Award from the ACPA Standing Committee for Women.
ACPA–College Student Education International reviews research and scholarly activity of nominees for the award before selecting the winner. Porter’s research includes the socialization processes, achievement and identity development of black students throughout the educational pipeline, with special emphasis on black undergraduate women.
Winners of the award must be members of the ACPA and also submit a one-page abstract of the research or scholarship to be considered.
Porter, who is also the coordinator of the Student Affairs Administration master’s program at MSU, will be honored at the upcoming Standing Committee for Women’s Open Business Meeting and the Sisterhood Social.
